Advance Your Career Where Opportunity and Quality of Life Meet — The Carolinas.

Hart & Hickman (H&H) is seeking an experienced environmental consultant to join one of our offices in North or South Carolina. The Carolinas offer a rare combination of strong economic momentum, business stability, and exceptional quality of life. With major investments in manufacturing, redevelopment, and infrastructure, we are at the forefront of the environmental work supporting that growth.

If you are looking for meaningful projects, strong client relationships, and the ability to make a visible impact with a growing, well-respected firm, H&H offers an opportunity to build the next chapter in your career with direct access to leadership and real influence over the work you pursue and clients you serve. As an employee-owned firm, we are committed to long term independence, strategic growth, and developing future leaders from within. Experienced consultants at H&H do more than manage projects - they help shape the direction of the firm.

This individual should bring technical expertise, a client-focused mindset, and a willingness to take ownership of projects. If you are motivated to grow into a leadership role within a collaborative, quality-driven firm, you will be a strong addition to our team.

Why the Carolinas?

  • Strong sustained economic growth creating long term project stability
  • Major industrial, manufacturing, and redevelopment investment
  • Diverse environmental challenges across urban, coastal, and rural settings
  • Four-season climate with access to mountains, coastlines, and vibrant cities
  • High quality of life with a lower cost of living than many major metropolitan areas
  • Communities large enough for opportunity, yet small enough to build real relationships

Why H&H?

  • Work with a team of smart, driven, and supportive professionals
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
  • Meaningful career growth and leadership opportunities
  • A diverse portfolio of technically challenging and rewarding projects
  • A firm large enough for opportunity, but small enough for visibility and recognition
  • Direct access to firm leadership, streamlined decision making, and opportunity to contribute to long-term strategic direction
  • A culture that prioritizes quality, collaboration, and long-term professional development

What You’ll Do

  • Manage complex site assessment and remediation projects from start to finish
  • Collaborate with clients, regulators, and internal teams to advance projects
  • Mentor junior staff and support team development
  • Develop technical strategies, budgets, and prepare high-quality deliverables

What We’re Looking For

  • 5 to 15 years of environmental consulting experience
  • Strong background in environmental site assessment and remediation, including:
    • Phase I/II ESAs
    • Soil and groundwater assessment and remediation
    • Vapor intrusion assessment and mitigation
    • Work within a variety of regulatory programs (NC or SC regulatory experience a plus but not required)
    • Work on a variety of different types of contamination sites (e.g., Brownfields redevelopment, industrial facilities, landfills, dry-cleaners, UST sites, etc.)
  • Proven project management skills — technical, financial, and team-related
  • A proactive, self-directed approach with a collaborative mindset
  • Interest in building long-term client relationships and growing into expanded leadership responsibilities.

If you are ready to grow your career in one of the most dynamic regions in the country and want to work with a firm that values quality, collaboration, and long-term leadership development, we’d love to hear from you.
